Bradley Lowery Foundation launches ‘Donation Derby’ ahead of Tyne & Wear clash
The Bradley Lowery Foundation has launched its Donation Derby campaign, inviting Sunderland and Newcastle United fans to turn football rivalry into fundraising ahead of the Tyne & Wear Derby on March 22.
Football supporters across the North East are being invited to turn club rivalry into positive action as the Bradley Lowery Foundation launches its new Donation Derby campaign.
The Blackhall-based charity has unveiled the initiative in the build-up to the next Tyne & Wear Derby, with Sunderland set to face Newcastle United on March 22.
The Donation Derby encourages fans to show their support for their team by making a donation to the foundation, helping raise vital funds while embracing the region’s long-standing football rivalry.
Donations can be made either online or at in-person collection points between March 1 and March 22, allowing supporters to back the side they believe will come out on top in the derby.

A spokesperson for the Bradley Lowery Foundation said: “Supporters and fans can donate to the foundation based on who they think will win the SAFC vs NUFC derby by visiting an in-person collection event or by donating online between the 1st and 22nd of March.”
Throughout March, Donation Derby events will be held at locations across the region, including shopping centres such as Eldon Square, as well as supermarkets, pubs and workplaces.
The spokesperson added: “Although the Donation Derby will only be hosted at selected locations, everyone has a ticket for this match. If you’re unable to attend an in-person collection, you can still take part by donating online through our Donation Derby page, which will feature live updates showing donation totals from across the North East.”
Each participating venue will feature a specially built donation tower, allowing supporters to see which club is leading the way in contributions.
Money raised through the campaign will support the Bradley Lowery Foundation’s work helping children with life-limiting conditions, as well as assisting families in accessing medical treatments not available through the NHS. The charity also helps to provide memorable experiences for children and their families.
Supporters are being encouraged to “make their passion for football make a bigger difference” by taking part in the Donation Derby throughout March.
Businesses are also being invited to get involved by hosting their own in-person Donation Derby collections.
The spokesperson said: “Could your business help support Bradley’s legacy by hosting an in-person Donation Derby collection? If so, please get in touch via contact@bradleyloweryfoundation.com”.
The campaign aims to unite football fans behind a shared community cause, ensuring Bradley Lowery’s legacy continues to make a lasting difference.
